The Spring Fling Blog Hop #Giveaway

Sepia Shot of a Young Kissing Couple.Happy spring!  Few words are sweeter on my fingertips after the long, hard winter we had. I probably say that every year. They always seem to go on and on, and I know parts of the country have been bent over and slammed harder than the North East, but still…

Adios, winter. Don’t let the Green Man stab you in the back on the way out.

How about a bunch of amazing prizes to celebrate the changing of the season? Hell, yeah, we’ve got ’em!

For my personal giveaway, I’m going to get out my crystal ball and look into the future. April 28, 2014, to be specific. That’s the day my next release, Double Takes, comes out.

That’s also the day I will send an e-copy of said book to a random person who adds it to their Goodreads: Want To Read shelf. That’s right, peeps. Win it before you can buy it! Sweet, right? Click over and add Double Takes, and you are in!  I’ll pick a winner via Random.org on 3/25.

Double Takes-highresSeriously? I could stare at this cover all day. I’d only need a drool rag on occasion.

Blurb:

Ah, the life of a rock star. Everyone thinks it’s nothing but sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

Not for Giovanni Savale.

For the lead singer of Three Deaf Mice, a band that reached its pinnacle in the late nineties, it’s nothing but an ugly divorce with a custody battle, money trouble, and now the nightmare exposure of starring in a reality television show. When his producer decides to cash in on an infamous interview Gio did years ago, and give the self-confessed bisexual rocker an onscreen boyfriend, things really hit the fan. Gio is certain his sexual experimentation back in his drug-abusing days meant nothing—after all he’s been married for nine years, clean and sober for nearly as long, and he has a son. And Gio is not remotely attracted to Kyrie, the funny, flamboyant actor they choose for his love interest. Of course, Lance Garrett, the mysterious and sexy owner of the local antique shop, Double Takes, is a whole different story. The man has Gio planning out a future he never imagined. With the threat of losing all custody of his ten-year-old son, ghosts from the past returning for revenge, and the cameras rolling, can Gio keep his head above water and his heart from getting broken?

****

To celebrate my coming release (that sounds dirty, huh?) here’s a teaser from Double Takes to whet your appetite.

————-

“How much more do you need?” Lance’s face was stone serious.

“For what? You want to rent a sailboat and escape for a week? I got it covered.” He held up the paper to prove it.

“I want you out of this show. What’s left to pay back your advance?”

“Hmmm.” Gio glanced down again, disappointment warring with common sense. “Shit. I guess it’s just the fifty K they advanced me when I signed on for next season. I have maybe half that socked away still. Put a chunk of my initial payment into buying Christine out of the condo, and then Marco’s school … it was spent before I got it…” His voice trailed off as he looked up to see Lance bending over his desk. Good Lord, the man was temptation personified. The sound of paper tearing accompanied Lance standing straight. He turned and handed Gio a check for twenty thousand more than the printout in Gio’s hand.

“Does that work?” Lance took Gio’s fingers and pressed the paper into his palm.

“No. I mean, yeah, it would, but I can’t take your money. It’s only another week or two of filming. A little more tape with Kyrie, and then we break.” Gio paused to think it through. “Although, if I pay back my advance, I should be off the hook for the additional filming since, technically, we were done with this season.” He shook his head. “Maybe we can book a couple local shows, and I can scrape enough together—buy my freedom before work on season two starts. Or see if the bank’ll give me a line of credit on the house.” Not fuckin’ likely without a dime of equity. Gio tried to hand it back.

“Take it.”

This felt wrong. He was always the provider; never took a dollar from anyone unless he’d earned it. “I can’t, Lance.”

Lance stepped toward him and shook his head stiffly, his greenish gaze skewering Gio. “This is not for you. This is me being completely selfish.”

Gio frowned, mesmerized by Lance’s moving mouth despite his reservations.

“I don’t want to be jerking off in front of a computer screen when you’re a few miles down the road—as much fun as it’s been. I don’t want to see you kissing anyone else on my TV. I don’t wanna miss you like I do.” His palms covered Gio’s cheeks. “This isn’t for you. It’s for me.”

Gio hissed in a breath as he reached one hand behind Lance’s head while his other grabbed the guy’s hip and pulled their bodies flush. Their mouths crashed together, warm lips and steel wool cheeks pulling hungrily, grappling for purchase. Gio sucked Lance’s hot tongue into his mouth, groaning as his dick swelled at the familiar taste of his lover while his hand on Lance’s neck crushed their lips closer.

“God.” Lance shuddered as Gio bit a rough trail across his scruffy cheek and down his neck, Gio’s tongue soothing the sting his need couldn’t bridle. He grabbed Lance’s cock through his jeans, fingers reaching possessively under his denim-clad sac.

“Fuck.” Lance’s voice hitched in time with Gio’s rough hands all over his erection. “Do we have time for this?”

Gio pulled his mouth off Lance’s collarbone and glanced at his watch. “Five minutes to fuck you,” he said in a growl. “You want it?”

“Not long enough but I’ll take it.” Lance began to unbutton his pants with one hand as his other opened a drawer behind his desk.

Gio turned, kicked the office door closed, and twisted the lock. He flipped open his fly and released his painfully hard cock as he walked back toward Lance.

With one hand on his desk, Lance reached lubed fingers back to grease his hole. A light trail of flame-kissed fur led the path down to his tight, glistening entrance, and his slick fingertip teased the spot hypnotically. Gio bit his lip as raw animal desire tore through him. He grabbed the rubber on the desk and had it opened and on in a matter of seconds.

“Look out.” Gio’s voice was gruff, demanding, as he pushed a hand down on Lance’s back and aimed his dick with the other. Lance’s palms slapped the surface of the desk and his cheek followed as Gio surged inside.

“Just keep ’em closed.” Chance Ralan turned the wheel of the black Cadillac Escalade and pulled into the crowded parking lot. He shot a glance at his husband, Alex, in the front passenger’s seat. The red paisley scarf covering half his face made him look like a bandit with bad aim.

“You tied a bandanna over my eyes, Chan. What could I possibly see?”

“Oh, don’t act like you never cheated at Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Everyone did.” Chance yanked the shift into park and pulled the key out of the ignition. “We’re here!”

“So, I can take this off?”

“Nope. Not yet.” Chance hopped out and jogged around the back of the vehicle. He opened Alex’s door and leaned over to unbuckle the seat belt, placing a quick kiss on his man’s lips as he did.

“Come on.” He took Alex’s hand and led him out of the truck. “Careful with this step.”

“If you were hoping for some kinky Valentine’s shit, you really should have cleared your plan with me, first.” Alex shivered in the frigid February night and Chance wrapped an arm around his back. The frozen pond outside the lit-up building made him wish they could have done this in June for the full effect.

But then it wouldn’t be a Valentine’s Day present.

“You’d be in your birthday suit for kinky shit, babe.” Chance swept a hand under the hem of Alex’s pea coat and grabbed his ass through the perfectly pressed wool of his tux. “Just another minute.” He pushed open the front door and pulled Alex into warmth. He led him through the lobby and finally stopped.

“Now?”

“Now.”

Alex pulled the scarf off and gazed around, his brow scrunched together while he ran fingers through mussed black-brown hair.

“What?” He cocked his head at the huge sign over the entrance to the Crystal Room. It read “Prom 2003: A Night to Remember.”

“I did my homework. That was the theme.” Chan took Alex’s hand and yanked him toward the door like a kid leading a parent into a toy store.

They stepped inside the function room festooned with purple and silver balloons, streamers, and tablecloths. At least a hundred people were there dressed in tuxedos and extravagant gowns. They stood and clapped when Chance and Alex walked in.

“What did you do?” Alex slowly shook his head as he took it all in.

“We missed it. So I made a do-over.”

Glen Palmer waved at them and Alex waved back, still shaking his head. His eyes widened as he scanned the room full of classmates from their senior year.

“We did our own thing, Chan. It was cool.” Alex turned to him, a bewildered smile on his gorgeous face.

Except it wasn’t cool, for so many reasons. Chance didn’t have the balls to admit who he was back then. Sure, they’d hung out secretly that night ten years ago, but just a few weeks afterward Alex’s dad caught them together and Chance had run like a chicken shit.

He spent nine years reliving and regretting, so maybe he’d paid his dues, but he was so excited to give Alex this little piece of their youth finally done right—out and proud.

“Is that Tara Bleaks? And that looks like…Jeremy! Jeremy Castiglione!” Alex scratched the back of his head and waved with his other hand. A general look of amusement was shared by nearly every prom attendee, but they gave Chance and Alex their space.

“Yup!” Chance took their coats and threw them over a vacant chair. “Plus some spouses you’ve never met. I tried to convince people to go with their original prom dates, but most of them didn’t like the idea.”

Alex gave him his wry, raised eyebrow stare. “You’re joking, right?”

“Yeah, rude, huh?”

Alex laughed and rolled his eyes. “You can’t do that to people. If I’d taken Heather Phillips like my mom tried to arrange, I’d be here with her, you dope.”

“Oh, no. That would mess with the time-space continuum.” Chan squeezed Alex’s hand tight. “That’d be like stepping on a prehistoric butterfly and turning the future world into a Lovecraft book. Let’s dance.”

“Babe, you didn’t really invent a time machine, you know.”

“Most of these women crammed themselves into their old dresses, with a few obvious exceptions.” Chance tilted his head toward a table of has-been cheerleaders who’d apparently traded their pom poms for bon-bons. “They’re playing 3 Doors Down, ‘Here Without You.’ It was Audioslave when we walked in. The DJ has my express orders to play nothing but music from ’03 or earlier. Yes, we’ve gone back in time.” He gave Alex a cocky grin.

“I’m pretty sure the real thing was heavy on the pop and dance music.”

“Yeah, well, when I fund the prom, they play only the shit I like. And I didn’t invite anyone I really hated, either.”

“What a catty bitch you are.” Alex laughed, his sapphire eyes sparkling under the shimmering lights of the disco ball above them.

“Mmm. And you love me anyway.”

“Yes, I do.”

Alex wrapped his arms around him and Chance melted against his perfectly tailored jacket. “This was really sweet, Chan. Now I’m feeling a little inadequate about what I got you.”

Chance stretched up to lock lips for a moment. “Don’t worry. You know what happens on prom night, don’t ya? You’re not gonna get off easy.”

“Isn’t that exactly what happens on prom night?”

“Oh, yeah…well, you know what I mean.”

“I have an idea. Thank God you didn’t rent a limo. I’d be up all night paying you back.”

Chance pulled his cell out of his jacket pocket. “Hold that thought…limos…limos…” He scrolled over the search results.

“Guess I’ll need a cup of coffee or two.” Alex laughed and leaned down to kiss him again.

John Mayer’s “Your Body is a Wonderland” came on. Alex grimaced.

Chance smirked and pulled him closer. “Shut up and just go with it.”

With a laugh and a pinch of Chance’s ass, Alex did just that.

The night was everything their prom should have been, with the added bonus of ending the party at their own house, greeting by their giant, doofy dog, and falling together into their shared king-sized bed. No way could their senior prom ever have been half as good.

“No! Watch out for the butterfly!” Alex mumbled in his sleep.

Chance placed a kiss on his temple and another on his cheek before he settled against Alex’s naked chest. “No changin’ this now, babe. Don’t worry.” He pulled the covers up around them both and closed his eyes.

Valentine’s Day Gift Hop: Huge #prizes #Kindlepaperwhite #books

Welcome to the sexiest time of the year! Okay, I think that’s debatable.  For me, there’s something about the tweeting of birds and the appearance of little green shoots and early flowers in the spring that makes me want to sow my wild oats. But, hey, Valentine’s Day marks just a few short weeks left of winter, and it’s also all about the chocolate. If that doesn’t sweeten your sex drive, I don’t know what will. Personally, I made the mistake of weighing myself the other day (bad idea—don’t do it!!!!!) and realized I was up seven pounds. Son of a bitch. So, now I’m out on the chocolate and have banned myself from drinking wine or other delicious alcoholic beverages until the weekends. Valentine’s Day will be a cheat day, so I know I’ll be in the mood after a bag of Lindt truffles and a bottle of Shiraz. That, or I’ll be sick as a dog.

One thing that can always get me ready for love, though, is a hot read, and we’ve got broiling books aplenty lined up for the winning!

For this fabulous hop, I’m offering an ebook from my back-list; winner’s choice. To be eligible for the grand prizes, you need only comment at the stops. Feel free to let me know what your plans are for Valentine’s Day, what your favorite chocolate or wine is, or recommend a spicy-hot read for us to check out!

Winter Wonder Man Blog Hop $50 Gift Card #giveaway and More!

Welcome to the Winter Wonder Man Blog Hop. I’m one of your many hosts, Kimber Vale. Our topic is sexy men who make your toes curl and keep you warm on those cold winter nights.

Well, here’s a babe who keeps my dreams spicy-hot.

Nothing I love more than a sexy singer covered in tattoos. Swoon. I’ve got a history of writing characters exactly like that, as a matter of fact. 😉

I’m days away from sending my second rock star book, Double Takes, Shooting Stars Book 2 to my publisher. To celebrate, I’ll include a snippet from that book.

—-

“Can’t be too careful, huh?” Gio said. Cities were cities, but still it seemed a little paranoid to lock your door just to walk down the stairs. Maybe he had an undesirable neighbor.

“Just a creature of habit, I guess,” Lance answered, as they stepped into his place. He dead bolted the door behind them. “Too many bad guys out there.”

“And yet you let me in.”

Lance turned to Gio with a serious expression.

“Are you a bad guy, Gio Savale? If you are, tell me now.” His face broke into a half-grin. “Yeah, it would shatter a decade-long fantasy. But if you’re here to spend the night, it’ll hurt much worse tomorrow.”

Gio’s stomach flip-flopped. Was he here to spend the night? And was he a good enough guy to live up to whatever Lance made him out to be?

I’m just a guy. Not a god. Not a hero. Hell and gone from perfect. Gio raked a hand through his hair as he searched for the truth. “My life’s a fucked-up mess.” He coughed a laugh. “I’m totally conflicted about even coming here…” He shook his head, asking for understanding with his eyes. “But I couldn’t stop myself.” Gio stepped closer to the man he’d inexplicably wanted since the first moment he saw him. “I’m just a guy who can’t get you out of my head. Is that good enough?”

Lance closed the distance between them. Their bodies nearly touched, and his warm hands reached up to frame Gio’s stubbled cheeks. “That’s perfect,” he said.

A Welsh Wolf in Wellington Blog Tour

Sofia Grey stopped in today for her “A Handful of Wolf” blog tour. She’s giving away three copies of her new book to three random commenters at her stops, so don’t forget to throw your hat in the ring!

Take it away, Sofia!

The Wild Side of Wellington

Since most of Sasha’s story takes place in Wellington, the compact and thriving capital city of New Zealand. I though it would be fun to feature a different part of the city – especially those mentioned in the book – on each tour ‘stop’. Come and join me on a truly unique virtual tour of Wellington J

I never explain where you’d find the headquarters of the Wellington Wolf Pack, but that’s because Connor, the Alpha, wants to keep it a secret. He chooses to meet Sasha in an anonymous back street bar, and Sasha is also none the wiser.

However, if I had to hazard a guess, I’d place it in the green, wild hills above the suburb of Karori. It’s wild and open enough for their wolves to roam in safety, and remote enough to avoid human interaction.

Wellington is at the southernmost tip of the North Island (because as you know, NZ is made up of two islands) and even though parts of it are still rugged and sparsely populated, it’s the South Island that has remained largely wild.

There’s a 175km track through the Fiordland Coast that claims to be the longest stretch of walkable wilderness coastline. Its isolation and difficulty of access has meant that the coastline’s raw and wild beauty has remained unchanged since pre-human times. That’s definitely somewhere you’d find shifters.

In this extract, Sasha is clubbing with Megan and her friends when he hears a worrying rumour:

~

“It gets you like that, aye.” Lou’s words made no sense. He flicked her a glance, unwilling to look away from the bathroom door. Did she know? Nah, must be a lucky guess. “The vibe in here.” She gestured to the fingers of smoke drifting on the air currents. “Megan loves it, but it makes me feel edgy. It’s the same for you, isn’t it?”

Yeah, just a lucky guess. He corralled his thoughts. “How do you mean?”

Lou shrugged. “Megan says there’s something here that she feels at home with. I keep imagining we’re going to get jumped by vampires, or werewolves or something.” She gave a self-conscious laugh, her hand rising to her throat. The biker dude had disappeared without Sasha noticing.

“There’s uh, no such thing as vampires.” Could Megan feel the shifters? Is that why he was drawn to her? Could it be that his wolf was simply confused in here?

“There’s werewolves though.” Lou inched closer. “They’ve been seen.”

“Seen?”

“Reports in the local papers. Huge dark wolves on the hills. Too many to just be hunting dogs.” Sasha’s heart juddered. One of the fundamental tenets of shifter law was secrecy. If the Kiwi wolves were getting careless, who knew where it might lead.

~

A Handful Of Wolf is available 25 November 2013, from Liquid Silver Books.

LSB Cover Art Template for PhotoShop

Sasha’s not a looking-to-the-future kind of guy, but he’s made an exception with his plans to travel and meet lots of pretty girls. Too bad his Pack Alpha, fate, and reality have other ideas about his trip abroad. He’s pretty sure he didn’t sign on to be a diplomat for the Snowdonia Wolf Pack. Or to find a Mate. Especially not a human Mate.

Megan knows better than to let a sweet-talking charmer get under her skin, but Sasha’s sexy playfulness is making her forget all her rules. Except one: she’s not willing to risk her heart by falling in love. The gorgeous boy from Wales can only be a fling, especially since her over-protective brothers hate him on sight.

In the midst of a wolf uprising, a hesitant Mate, and Megan’s complicated family ties, Sasha learns that sometimes impulsiveness is dangerous and even lethal. Can he show Megan why they belong together before it all comes crashing down around him and he loses his Mate forever?

~

I’m giving away 3 copies of A Handful of Wolf, to 3 lucky commenters across the tour. Just leave a comment at whichever site you visit, and you’ll go into the draw. The more comments you leave, the more chances you get to win.

Diane Saxon’s “Flight of Her Life” #romantic #comedy

I have the lovely Diane Saxon visiting me today to give us a peek at her new holiday-themed romantic comedy, Flight of Her Life. It looks like a super fun read. I can’t wait to get my hooks in it.

Thank you so much for hosting me, Kimber.

No problem!  Thanks for being here, Diane. 🙂

I’m going to be visiting some of my favorite new author friends over the next week or so, and I’d love you to join me in my hop. I’m going to do a consecutive excerpt of Flight of Her Life, my new romantic comedy especially for Christmas, so if you follow along, by the end, you will have read my first two chapters.

FlightOfHerLife_DianeSaxon_600x800

I love life and I laugh a lot. I think that’s why funny things seem to happen to me, so I thought I would do a little competition. The answers will be a pure guess, but I will give away a copy of Flight of Her Life to the two top scoring visitors. You have to answer all the questions on the first 6 sites and I will let you know the answers when we reach Layne, so follow me around. If you miss one out, you can go back, I won’t judge until I put the answers up on the 9th.

Look forward to seeing you around.

Traveling from New York City to Houston to meet her future in-laws and announce her engagement, accident prone Bailey finds herself in a situation beyond her control. All flights are cancelled the night before Christmas Eve, leaving Bailey stranded at the airport with a cowboy from her past.

Against all odds, Sebastian manages to rescue Bailey from one disaster after another, but is it too late to rescue her from her future? Faced with a heartrending dilemma, does Bailey turn her back on the man who offers her a life of security, or does she run off to Maui with a cowboy?

Excerpt

Chapter 1

“So, Bailey. We’ve got it straight?”

“Yes, Phillip.”

“What did I say?”

“Huh?”

“Do you mean ʻpardon?’ That’s the polite way of querying what a person has said.”

“Pardon?”

“What did I just tell you?” Her pulse rate increased and she widened her eyes as she heard the impatience in his voice.

“Oh. Umm.” She watched his brow crease in irritation, and automatically straightened her spine as she sat opposite him in the fortieth floor offices belonging to Horton & Horton Attorney at Law.

“You are going to fly to Houston this afternoon.” She recited. “To meet with your parents…” at his sharp look, she corrected herself. “…the senators.” He gave a short, sharp nod. “I will stay here for another two days to attend to matters that may arise in your absence.” She self-consciously checked for a stray curl and patted her hair above her ear. “I will then catch a flight to Houston to join you and the senators for their Christmas Eve party…soiree.” She quickly amended before he could react. “My parents have made their own arrangements to attend.”

She linked her fingers together and resisted the urge to cross her legs. Phillip said it was considered vulgar and cheap, and God forbid anyone thought she was cheap.

He seemed to be waiting for her to continue. She closed her eyes briefly, took a deep breath and thought.

“Oh, yes. Senator Patricia Horton…” she glanced up at him to see if it was okay to use his mother’s first name in that manner, but as there were no flickers of disapproval, she continued. “…will show me the dinner service she has chosen.” For us to use for the rest of our lives. “And Senator Benjamin Horton will announce our engagement and the date of our forthcoming wedding—once they have agreed on the date with you later today.” Her smile was pure saccharine as she waited for his nod of approval.

He snapped his briefcase shut and picked it up, casting a distracted glance at her.

“Fine.”

He scanned the immaculate office, nodded again.

“I’ll see you on Christmas Eve. The senators’ car will meet you at the airport.”

She stood and crossed the room to offer him a kiss good-bye. Reaching up on tip-toe, she leaned in to him. He stepped back so she almost overbalanced and he turned his head just enough for her lips to graze his cheek, and then he raised his hand and wiped the spot she had touched.

A low wave of disappointment flowed over her. She appreciated his ideas about work etiquette, but really, he was leaving for two days and the next time she would see him would be in a room full of strangers at their engagement party. A nasty little thought curled through her mind as she wondered if he would deign to kiss her in front of everyone there, when he so obviously seemed to find difficulty in the privacy of their own office.

“Oh. My mother had this delivered.”

Curious she dipped her head as he pulled a small, elegant, jeweler’s box from the inside pocket of his impeccable suit and flicked open the lid. The light reflecting from the huge diamond rock almost took her eye out. Her jaw dropped.

“Phillip. It’s…stunning.” She couldn’t form the words she thought would be most appropriate to describe the monstrosity of a ring he offered her.

He handed the box to her with the ring inside.

“Don’t lose it; it was almost two million dollars. A nine carat diamond. The senator has exquisite taste.”

Speechless, she stared at it for a moment, taking time to consider what dinner service the senator, with her exquisite taste, would choose. Not for the first time, a flicker of concern tiptoed secretively through her.

Phillip stepped away and opened the door. As though an afterthought struck him, he turned back, and her heart gave a hopeful flutter.

“And Bailey, would you do me a favor and wear your glasses rather than your contact lenses? They make you look so much more…”

“Attractive?” She provided.

“No…umm.”

“Intelligent?”

“No, no…”

“Sophisticated?”

“No, Bailey.” His mouth pursed with irritation. “Presentable. They make you look more presentable.”

“Oh.”

The door snapped shut and she stared at the enormous stone glaring out of the box at her. If anyone asked her what her opinion of vulgar was, she would have said the ring.

She took it out of the box, reverently slid it on to her ring finger and held her hand at arm’s length. The ring was too big and as she dropped her hand down to her side the rock spun to the underside of her finger. Perhaps it was safer tucked into her palm anyway. She was likely to get mugged, flashing something like that around in New York City.

She gazed around the office, sighed as she noticed the paperwork he had left in a neat pile on his desk for her to clear away. She was supposed to be an associate, not his secretary, but he’d got into the habit of letting her clean up after him.

Bailey picked up the envelope with her flight ticket inside and tucked it into her handbag.

She needed to leave early to buy Christmas presents for his parents. She thought Phillip and she would have bought them between them, but Phillip said he’d already got them something from him. What the hell would they want for Christmas if they could afford to spend two million bucks on a diamond ring?

She already had presents for her own parents. A pretty silk scarf for her mom and a box of Cuban cigars for her daddy, but really what would the senators appreciate from her?

At least she was going to see mom and daddy too. They were staying in Houston for the engagement party. She missed them so much it made her heart ache.

Bailey needed to pack her case with smart, presentable clothes. She wasn’t sure if she had enough for an entire week: items that were neither work suits, nor were they jeans and sweaters.

She locked the office door and hustled along the empty hallway to the elevator, most employees had already left for the Christmas holidays. She pressed the button for the lobby and waited, and then she stepped inside the elevator where the annoying sound of piped Christmas music greeted her. The familiar feeling of nausea hit her as the elevator lurched down and her stomach stayed on the fortieth floor for a moment longer before it decided to join her.

The lights flickered, the Christmas music stuttered, the elevator ground to a halt and the doors remained closed. Bailey leaned forward, a heavy feeling of disbelief filled her chest. Please don’t let this happen. Not now, not today. She pressed the button for the door and stared in horror as they slid open to reveal a solid brick wall in front of her. The elevator was stuck between floors.

#MySexySaturday Excerpt from “Comando Especial”

This is a new venture for me. I signed up for My Sexy Saturday today, and I’m thinking it’s gonna be fun.

The rules of the hop for this week (#21) are simple: post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words of sexiness.

I can dig that.

My lucky seven comes from my latest release, Coming Together: In the Trenches. Here are seven paragraphs from my story “Comando Especial” in this philanthropic anthology. In the Trenches

What’s sexy to me? Well, lots of things, 😉 but in this story, a high-octane hero who rescues the woman he loves from the clutches of a sadistic drug lord spells H-O-T.

——

“He has a gun!”  Luz shouted a moment before the awful ring of a fired bullet fractured the air.

Alexander had dropped to a fighting crouch while the gun was drawn.  His right leg snapped up in a round-house kick and his booted foot struck the pistol a heartbeat before it went off.  The bullet smashed through the wall of the building, and the gun flew from Ramirez’s grasp.

In a blur of dark green, Alexander dropped and spun.  His left leg swept his opponent’s feet out from beneath him, and Ramirez landed on his back.  Alex tackled him in a blink, pinning his shoulders to the dirt floor under unforgiving knees.

The officer pulled a handheld radio from his belt and spoke into it.  “Hostage is safe.  Ramirez is apprehended.”  A crackle of voices responded.

Moments later, as Alexander bound Ramirez’s wrists and ankles with zip ties, a deafening explosion sounded in the distance.

“Say adios to your refinery equipment, Don.  I’m glad you survived, as much as I would love to put a bullet in your ear.  The United States Justice Department would be disappointed if we failed to deliver you alive.”

He looked up at Luz.  “Ready to go home now, corazón?”

I Got Tagged. Hard.

I was tagged to write this blog post by the damn awesome Sofia Grey.

Thanks much, Sofia! You can find her post here.

What are you working on right now?

Well, I’m trying to finish up my second Shooting Stars book, Double Takes.  It’s an MM romance involving a middle-aged, sorta-washed-up rock star and a younger guy. I originally pegged it for 50K words, but I’m there now and still have a sex scene, a climax (not the sex scene kind), and a happy ending (again, not the sex kind) to go. Sigh. I’m thinking 60K at this point.

After that, I have plans for the third in this series, (top-secret title, with a main character who is an actor, not a rocker) but I may take a break to write the futuristic thingy I have keeping me up at night. We’ll see. Book three smacked me upside the head with inspiration while I was in the shower earlier today, so it may win out. It’s gonna be angsty (she said, shaking like an excited terrier)!

How does Double Takes differ from other works in its genre?

It probably doesn’t. 😉 Actually, I think Gio’s book has a pretty original premise, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. And it takes place in my old stomping ground, Bean Town, so it’s near and dear to my heart. The entire book is told only from Gio’s point of view, which was different for me, but a fun writing workout. I had to make my other MC likable and relatable without ever getting in his head (In his pants? Yes, but not in his head). You can check out the first kiss scene from Double Takes posted here, if you are so inclined. And Chance and Alex from Forever do make an appearance in Gio’s book, for anyone who’s wondering.

Why do you write what you do?

Basically, I write what I like to read. I’m also a crazy rock-metal-concert-going-fan-girl, so the music theme in my current series was a natural. I was always a huge fan of rogues and romance ever since I was a young thing who shouldn’t have been reading such business, and I devoured horror, sci-fi, and adventure my entire reading career. Now, I just mash-up my favorite things and hope for the best. I also firmly believe that love isn’t ruled by anything, including gender, so I will write any damn sexual pairing that beckons my muse.

How does your writing process work?

Does it? I’m not so sure. 🙂 I usually have a flash of idea—a character, an overall plot arc, or even a title—that dictates the whole shebang. Very often a song will spark an idea. I plot via an outline and copious scribbles in a black and white composition notebook. When I feel I have enough to actually seal the deal and not get stuck in a plot rut, I start writing.  And that’s all she wrote.

Now is the time on Sprockets when we dance, I mean tag three other people.

The fickle finger of fate lands on Diane Saxon, Heloise West, and Max Vos.

Slippery When Wet or Too #Sexy for my Blog or The Art of Writing Male/Male Anal

Did you sing that horrible song when you read the title?  A small, malicious part of me hopes so. >:-) Oh! I didn’t mean anything Bon Jovi, although this is a musical entry, I must say. Anyway, allow me to serenade you while we go at it, here.

The Slippery When Wet Blog Hop begins today, and I am ill-prepared. Or maybe too prepared. Anyway, I have a blog post I penned a while back, which seemed too risqué to send to other places as a guest blog, but is just right tonight after realizing I have two hours to get this sweetheart posted. Enter: The Art of Writing Male/Male Anal.

The Art of Writing M/M Anal

This won’t be comprehensive, but how about the basics for virgin author’s everywhere who want to delve into the great “Do Not Enter?” Sometimes it’s not just an exit, ladies and gentleman, but there are a couple of things we’re going to need in order to get this bird off the ground. So wave your magic pen and produce these magical items:

1.         Condom.  This baby gets top billing for most smut peddlers the world over. Publishing houses, generally speaking, are pretty firm on the “No Creampie” rule. That’s not to say you can’t sneak them in once in a while, especially in short stories which are more likely to fall into the erotica without romance or stupid people having risky sex categories (read: one seat closer to the almighty porn throne).  I wrote a short for Shane Allison’s Bad Boy anthology with Cleis Press (which should be out soon, actually) and had a bank robber getting it on with a hostage right after the hold up. Needless to say, there were no condoms available at the hideout in the woods. Obviously plot factors into your safe sex decision.

Also, if your MCs are in a serious, committed relationship, and you’ve laid that on the line—maybe even with a side note on VD testing (archaic term that is so Pretty in Pink it makes me smile–no, wait, I think that was Sixteen Candles)—you can go ahead and get really nasty. But—general rule of thumb—have a rubber in someone’s pocket/drawer/under the seat of their car/in the little booze container around their faithful St. Barnard’s neck.  Whatever. Non-human exceptions exist as well.  Aliens don’t carry AIDS and all you need is a rabies shot to get it on with a wolf shifter.

2.         Lube. This runs alongside the condom. For one, rubbers—even if they say lubricated—are going to make things, shall we say, rougher, than skin on skin. Also, chicks have the built-in lube. That’s right, we can make our own, so in vaginal sex no one gets bent out of shape if a bottle of K-Y isn’t sitting on your fictional dresser. But M/M? The human ass needs a helping hand (full of spit or jelly).  Spit isn’t the best, but it’s always available unless they are trapped in the Sahara, in which case, I doubt they’re feeling too amorous.

3.         A little foreplay. Even if you’ve got the rubber on your big burly top, he’s squirted an entire bottle of love-lotion on his long-stocking, and his pretty boyfriend is face-down-ass-up, it isn’t nice to just stick it in without a little preamble.  Rimming works, but if your guys aren’t so inclined, a gradual finger work-up is really the kinder, gentler thing to do than insta-penetration.

4.         Mention of the prostate.  No, it isn’t a prostrate like your mother-in-law calls it.  That means lying down with your face smashed into a pillow, which may well be the case with your sexy little bottom who happens to be getting his prostate hammered by his bear.  Not necessarily something you MUST mention, but seems to be a huge factor in the pleasure experience for the guy getting fucked.  I don’t know.  I don’t have one myself, and frankly I feel robbed. I’m going to go write my congressman right now.

5.         The grand finale!  I don’t need to tell you how to do this, really. The world is your orgasm oyster.  Have a fire hose showdown if you like.  One thing to remember is that if the guy on bottom gets off first, I hear tell having a big dick in his ass for an extended time after can be uncomfortable.  Again, I can’t verify this personally and I can’t ask my husband.  I also can’t take part in a fire hose showdown.  Robbed again.  Why else do you think I write this stuff?  It’s the closest I can cum, er come, I’m afraid. 😥

—————

There you have it! Now go out there and write some hot manlove. Who knows? You could be a natural! If you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself, feel free to comment below for a chance to win my e-book “Forever is Now” and I’ll be happy to provide it for you.

In your comment, you may tell me your favorite 80’s song/movie or must-have male/male gettin’-it-on accouterments I missed. Fire at will, contest open all over the universe, and don’t forget to check out all the other blogs and comment like a mother-fucker.  Every comment on every stop gets you one step closer to the $50 gift card giveaway. I don’t make the rules, I just play by them (yeah, right).
