#Interview with #Author Olivia Night

Today I have Olivia Night visiting for a quick interview. Her new book, Seduction in Sierra Leone, just released in August, and Olivia was good enough to share a bit about her writing process and to catch a couple of left-fielders as well. 🙂

I love romantic suspense. Did you have a hard time balancing the two?

I have been an avid reader of romantic suspense so I went into writing Seduction in Sierra Leone with an idea of how much suspense should be intertwined with the romance. I have read books where there is more suspense than romance and I found I didn’t grow attached to the characters. Conversely, I’ve read books that had more romance than suspense and in those cases I was never really “hooked” to the book.  I hope I did a good job at balancing the two. I love my characters and it was exciting for me to discover the story as I wrote it.

Sierra Leone is such an interesting and unusual setting. Do you have firsthand knowledge of Africa? How did you decide to place your characters there?

Africa is at the very top of my bucket list. I travel, each year, with a close friend to a different place. We have plans to visit Africa in 2018 (it seems far off but I am a HUGE planner). When I was younger I wanted to join the Peace Corps and go to Africa in that capacity. I went as far as completing the application. But I never hit submit. I have a really hard time taking risks and that was a huge one.  So it’s no surrpise to me that when Aislinn popped into my head she was a relief worker in Africa. (She also loves Coke’s and Dean Winchester, so she’s pretty awesome in my opinion)

I didn’t really “place” my characters there. Brandt and Aislinn came into my head pretty much fully formed people. I just had to write down their story and fill in the blanks.

Do you have any interesting writing quirks?

I don’t know if it qualifies as a “quirk” but my writing process is more writing down what already exists in my head. In all three (and more recently four) books that I am currently writing the characters just kind of show up and say “Here I am! Write my story!” So I don’t have these thought out and planned ideas, my characters and their stories just kind of show up and I write them. I also listen to music for inspiration. Each character has a different “sound” and when I need a push I will sit for a while and just listen to the music, and the music only, for a while.

Twinkies by Hostess Brand (Photo: Creative Commons)

Twinkies or Devil Dogs?

Neither – something with dark chocolate.

Mayonnaise or Ketchup?

No competition- ketchup all the way.

Coffee or Tea?

If I only was allowed to drink water and one other beverage for the rest of my life I would forsake wine and embrace my beloved coffee. I’m a coffee-aholic.

What are you currently working on?

I’m working on a few things. I am finishing up Book 2- Seduction in Seville and am halfway through Book 3- Seduction in Scotland. I also am working on a second series (currently untitled which will be a four book series. I have written about thirty pages of book one in that and have jumped forward to book four and have that one pretty much outlined (partly in my head, partly on paper and partly on my iPhone notes app). I can’t wait to get all of these stories out on paper. I have this fear I will lose them somewhere in the recesses of my mind if I don’t. . The second book series will take place in Asheville, N.C. and starts with a tale of love and loss that makes even me feel sad for what the characters have gone through.

What is your favorite quote or catchphrase (can be from your writing or someone else’s)?

“You’re only given a spark of madness, you musn’t lose it.” Robin Williams

I have had this as part of my email signature for almost ten years and I’d like to think that when people see it they either smile or wonder what madness I am hiding….

Blurb

In the mangroves of Sierra Leone, two strangers raised a world apart find themselves inextricably connected. Seduction in Sierra Leone, the first in a series of three novels, is a fast-paced tale of murder, lust, and love that transports the reader to a foreign and mysterious world of danger.

Aislinn Salameh, an American relief worker, is searching for purpose in her self- imposed lonely world. The stranger who enters her village on a blistering hot day looks more animal than man. She knows she should stay far away but can’t stop herself from being drawn to the mysterious man.

Brandt Fairlane is a man haunted by the sins of his past. Detached from others, Brandt has spent his life alone. His line of work is too dangerous for the luxuries of love and family.

When Brandt sees Aislinn and her haunting eyes, he knows he must possess her. But when Brandt’s past comes back from the dead and Aislinn is caught in the crossfire, it is up to him to keep her safe. In order to survive, they must learn to rely on one another. As they run for their lives, the heat between them becomes undeniable. Now, Brandt must not only protect Aislinn from a madman committed to stealing her away but he also must protect her from himself. Because if Brandt steals her body and her heart, he’ll never let her go.

Excerpt

Together, they watched the truck, a far better model than either had seen in their time here, tip and tilt as four men emerged. Aislinn couldn’t see any of them very well, though she could tell they were all very large, muscular men, all in different ways. One was short and squat, and one was short and lean and looked as though he really needed to eat. The other two were tall. Those two were muscular and looked more dangerous than the others. Perhaps it was the serious look on their faces, as if they had never smiled. But one was more muscular than the others. He was the tallest in the group. And he was really, really easy on the eyes. And as if he sensed her watching him—okay, staring—he turned his head and looked directly over at her.

His face was blank, his eyes unblinking. He looked across the short distance at Aislinn, apparently not even noticing that Geoff was standing in front of her. From the distance between them, his eyes seemed to be charcoal gray, a color she had never seen on a person. Animals yes, people no. His skin was tanned, and there was a slight sheen of sweat, giving him a sort of healthy glow. His dark black hair was cut short, but not in a military fashion that had that silly flat surface at the top. No, there was just enough to run her fingers through. His legs were huge, like tree trunks that made their way up to a tapered and slim waist. His chest flared back out to meet his thick neck. Veins stood out on his arms as he picked a bag up from inside the car, all the while staring at her. She fixed her eyes shamelessly at his full lips that were a dark pink, a color you normally didn’t see on a man. His nose had been broken before, judging by the uneven placement on his face. The rest of his face was perfect. Perfect angles, perfect mouth, perfect eyes.

She came back to his eyes and realized she had just, very slowly, given this stranger a full-body perusal. He didn’t offer a nod, or any other type of greeting; he just kept looking at her. She felt herself blush. And then, suddenly, he turned. Brima, the town elder, was approaching the men—quickly for an old man—with a broad smile on his face. Brima rubbed the man’s chin, a traditional Mende greeting, and, as was customary, the man did not return the gesture as a symbol of acquiescence to the elder. Then they both smiled and shook hands. The muted tones of their conversation drifted over to her as they walked to the elder’s home farther up the path, leading away from the road.

Author Bio

Olivia Night, a fictional character herself, has always been an avid read and writer. She found the romance genre in college and has never been able to get enough. One sleepless night, the main characters of Book One in her Seduction series sprang from her head fully formed. They demanded she tell their story; so she did. As they revealed themselves, so did two other intriguing characters. Those characters convinced her to give them their own books because their stories were worth telling too. And so Olivia suddenly became a romance author. When Olivia is not writing, she has the best job in the world, which, too, will remain a secret. In her free time, she reads, write, runs, or is, most likely, out emulating Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Olivia lives in one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the U.S.—Baltimore. She lives with her cat, which she is convinced was a gladiator in his past life. Olivia plans to continue being awesome at this thing called life. Really, that’s her only goal.

Interview with Author Vanessa Sims

I met the lovely Vanessa Sims via Facebook and am happy to have her visit my blog today for an interview. She’s a great sport. 😉

You’re at a karaoke bar. What song (by what artist) do you sing?

As of right now I would sing Blank Space by Taylor Swift or Shake It Off or Bad Blood. Well basically anything from her 1989 album.

It’s Groundhog Day today. If you had to live one 24 hour period over and over again for the next fifty years, which day would it be?

I think I would have to relive the day I went to Disney World. I mean because it’s Disney World and I was kid. You couldn’t get any better than that.

Have you always wanted to be an author, or did you decide to pursue writing later in life? Was there a specific incident that got you writing?

I love to write and read. I always kept a journal, but half the time I didn’t remember to write in it. I actually finished my first book when I was 15. It was a YA book. I can’t find it for the life of me. I think my mom might have thrown it out unknowingly.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I find my inspiration from a lot of things. Since I started writing I would look at couples and wonder if they are a couple and half the time I’m thinking awe they are so cute! And I also think well if mf stories can do it why can’t m/m.

Would you ever write M/F or F/F? Why or why not?

I am actually writing 2 M/F’s right now. Hopefully they will be out soon. As for F/F, I’m not going to say yes, but I’m also not going to say no. Something might come and I need to let it out.

Who is your favorite character in all media, throughout history? Why?

I have never thought about it. I would have to say, well shoot no names are coming to mind, that’s bad.

Who is your favorite character from your books? Why?cherished mate

I would have to say Anton from Cherished Mate in my Red Moon Pack series. I just love the way he came together and how he took care of his responsibility and the way he gets under Noah’s skin. Gotta love someone who can get under an Alpha’s skin and they’re not their mate.

Are you at all superstitious? In what way, or why not?

If I see a penny I will pick it up, though I think I do it wrong because I never know which way it’s supposed to be facing. When the time is double say 11:11 I make a wish on something red. I also try to wish on the first star of the night.

Bio for Vanessa Sims:

I live in Texas but originally I am from Trenton, NJ. When I graduated from high school, I joined the military. Yay me. I did three years with one tour to Iraq. I am happily married because seriously would put that they are unhappy. I have three kids. No pets, they scare me but I have a healthy respect for them. I am currently a stay at home mom and I love read! A lot. If you want to contact me you can do so at vanessa.sims@aol.com and you can follow me on twitter at @vanessasims18. Character Interview:

Dillon: Thank you, Kimber, for letting us take over for the day. Jennah said we could answer questions she asked, or choose for each other. Liam figured choosing for each other was more fun. So here we go…

Liam: Always so serious. Just to lighten the mood a bit…Dillon, on what occasion do you lie?

Dillon: I never tell a lie. *coughs* Okay, maybe I do when you ask if I like whatever tie you’ve picked out for the day. Seriously, man, I’m a rancher. Could care less what the hell your tie looks like.

Liam: One of these days I’m going to help you out with fashion sense. Won’t even make you wear suit pants. Jeans will work.

Dillon: My turn. What or who is the greatest love of your life?

Liam: Nothing like giving me a question I have to tread lightly with. *laughs* That’s easy, my horse is the greatest love of my life. *laughs harder* And maybe you are too.

Dillon: See who gets to sleep on the couch tonight.

Liam: You talk a lot of talk.  Who is your hero of fiction?

Dillon: Ummm. Let’s go with Doc Holliday. “I’m your huckleberry.” is too much of a classic not to like the man.

Liam: Predictable.

Dillon: Really? And you’re so original I suppose?

Liam: I’m not the cowboy quoting Doc Holliday.

Dillon: Whatever. We should probably get a move on this before Kimber kicks us out of here.  What is it that you most dislike?

Liam: Liars. No need to go into more. Let’s just leave it at that.

Dillon: I second that dislike for sure. Lying. Manipulating. Sons of bitches. Can do without those bastards.

Liam: K. Last question. Where would you most like to live?

Dillon: Easy. Right here on Sultan Ranch. Was born here, plan to die here.

Liam: True answer. Still predictable. *laughs*

Dillon: Fine. Pretty boy. Your final question. Which talent would you most like to have?

Liam: Any talent? Hmm. I’d like to learn how to play the fiddle.

Dillon: The fiddle. Yeah, I got nothing for that.

Liam: Good! Because it’s time for us to get back to work. Thanks again for letting us stop by! Hope everyone checks out Saving Sultan!

About the Author:

Born and raised in Texas, Jennah is a transplant to Missouri long enough ago she should probably consider that her hometown. But she will forever be a Texan. She loves to write any story that will make a reader smile, laugh, and maybe even cry (although you won’t ever hear her admit that she cries). Whether the next story she writes is contemporary, urban fantasy, LGBT, or whatever other crazy idea she comes up with, there will always be love and romance in the midst of trials and turmoil.

Excerpt:

Liam moved around the corner of the truck and lifted himself onto the tailgate. His friend set his hand on Dillon’s shoulder and squeezed. He turned to Liam and paused.

“You okay, man?” Dillon asked. Liam’s eyes were dark, his lips pulled tight. Dillon wasn’t sure if he was angry or sad. Could have been the beer.

“Yeah. Just thinking. We start a new chapter of our lives tomorrow. Part of me wishes this one wasn’t done.”

He reached for Liam’s cup. “I think you should call it a night. The beer’s messing with your head. Making you talk like a chick.”

Liam didn’t acknowledge him. He stayed quiet for a few more minutes. “Is there anything you wanted to do before we graduated, but didn’t? Like a high school bucket list.”

“Seriously?”

Liam nodded.

What the hell had come over his friend? “I’m eighteen. I could give a fuck less about a bucket list. We’ve got all the time in the world to do shit. Look at it this way”—Dillon finished his beer, tossed the cup in the back of the truck, and reached for Liam’s glass—“start new right now. Something you want to do? Do it.”

The next thing that happened would forever be burned in Dillon’s memory.

Liam jumped to the ground and stumbled. Dillon grabbed his friend’s shoulders to keep him from face-planting into the grass. Liam turned around so they were face-to-face.

“You’re right,” Liam whispered, then kissed him.

Scrap Metal Author Jennah Scott

Fellow Liquid Silver author Jennah Scott stopped over for an interview, and to share a bit of her new book, “Scrap Metal,” written with Alexi Raymond.  I love this cover, and sounds like they’ve got a story just as delish to go with it!

1.        So, Jennah, what is your writing process like?  Are you a planner?  Pantster?  What is your favorite writing tool or tip?

I’m a ploster—plantser—whatever you want to call a combination of the two. I usually start with a loose plot that I can follow throughout, but still give the characters room to make their own decisions. My favorite tool would be Scrivener. My favorite tip…never delete anything for good. Put it in another file to be used for later. I don’t know how many times I’ve gone back and retrieved a line here or there for a scene.

2.        How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Hmm depends on the size of the woodchuck’s teeth.  J

3.        Who are your favorite erotic romance authors right now and why?

Jayne Rylon comes to mind first. Her Hot Rods and Powertools series are fantastic. She’s mastered telling a good, well-rounded story that don’t take hours upon hours to read. Also, Cassandra Carr and Avril Ashton—who I just discovered. If you like bad boys, as in really bad boys, you have to check her out. Lorelei James is another of my favorites; she’s an auto-buy no matter what she writes.

4.        Please give us a two-hundred word teaser from your latest release, as well as the tag line for your book.

Tagline: Love is like art; you can take scrap and mold it into something beautiful.

Excerpt:

He was ready to put his plan into place when they walked inside, but she jumped onto the counter and sat with one leg crossed over the other. Her hands propped up behind her, pushing her breasts out to further torment him.

“So about that adventure on the desk.”

This woman knew what she was doing to him. When she hopped on the counter, her eyes lowered a fraction of an inch, a look that screamed, “I’m yours to do with what you want.”

The sound of a truck out front turned both of their heads. Ryke wanted to tell her he could lock the door or hell, forget whoever was out there. He was hard and aching and had a beautiful woman on his countertop.

Angelica hopped from the desk, cupping him in her hand. “Probably not good for business, huh,” she pouted, her hand trailing across his zipper as she started to move behind him. “You have an office back here, right?”

Ryker looked between the door and the woman who turned his world upside down and his dick hard enough to break concrete. She motioned with her thumb behind her. “Come find me when you’re done.”

5.        While you’re writing/planning—music or no music?  If music, what kind?

Music—most of the time. As far as what kind, that depends on the story. When I’m working on a western, then it’s country music. Otherwise, alternative.

6.   Do you find it easier or more enjoyable to write male or female protagonists?  If you have a preference, why?

Male protagonists for sure. They don’t hide what they feel, sometimes to their detriment.

7.     Do you have only one WIP, or do you bounce around between projects?

I tend to bounce around until I get into a groove with one. Then I stick with it until I’m done.

8.   What genre would you write if you didn’t write erotic romance?

Urban Fantasy. I have a wip that’s about halfway through. I’ll finish it one of these days.

9.    Where can we find more information about you and your books?

Not one to settle down, Angelica Rousseau never thought she’d consider planting roots in the small town of Kimmswick, Missouri. When her art speaks to her—and gives her a reason to get up close and personal with body shop owner, Ryker Talcott—sticking around starts to have appeal.

Ryker has to deal with a lot of personalities and has found that custom orders for women almost never end well. Especially when the women are as picky and confident as Angelica. This time it’s different. He’s never met a woman like her. She rivals his confidence and has the attitude to back it up.

When the past threatens their future, Angelica and Ryker have to decide what’s more importanttheir own promises to themselves, or the love they both feel for each other.

Red Phoenix Cherry Poppin’ Blog Tour

Today I welcome author Red Phoenix to my blog. Her newest release, “Brie Learns the Art of Submission” is available  now from Amazon. Her book is broken down into two sections with alluring subtitles. In Tame, we find His Touch (Brie Learns to Obey)Marquis Gray’s Flogger (Brie Learns Her Power as a Submissive), and The Art of Kinbaku (Brie Embraces Bondage).

Notice how that was called Tame? It could refer to taming the submissive, but then again, it might just be a commentary on the type of erotic action you’ll find, especially when compared to Wicked, the next section. This one includes quite the sexual assortment: Warrior Fantasy (Brie Lives Her Fantasy), Chocolate (Brie Surrenders to His Will), and Her First DP (Brie on Display). Yup. I’m guessing the latter.

Red was kind enough to do an interview (above and beyond the call of duty, actually;).

So, without further ado, let’s get sexy with Red Phoenix.

First off, thanks for stopping over, Red!  It’s great to have you here.

I’m curious—what got you interested in writing erotic romance?

I wanted to delve into self-publishing and thought short stories would be a great way to start. I had two characters in a romance novel I had written and I wanted to explore their more intimate lives. That was the basis for Loving Amy, my very first work of erotica.

What is your writing process like? Are you a planner? Pantster? What is your favorite writing tool or tip?

I let the muses carry the story. I know where we are headed, but they fill in the details as we go. It is exciting as the story unfolds and all the pieces come together. The more I write the easier it is for me to let go and allow the muses to carry me along.bring most pleasure

My advice: Write, write, write! The more you do it the better you become. However, you cannot skip the editing process. No matter the brilliance of your story, you owe your readers a clean copy. (I started out self-editing.) I now have a professional editor and am going back to earlier stories and revising them. My fans deserve only the best.

Who are your favorite erotic romance authors right now and why?

Honestly, I try to stay away from reading other erotic books as much as possible. I do not want to be influenced by another writer’s style or storyline. I believe part of my allure is my unique voice and I don’t want to lose that.

How would you describe your writing style?

Let me have a fan speak for me: “I think I love this book as much as I do because we get to go right along with Brie. We get to sit through the classes with Mr. Gallant. The students ask all the questions that we would ask if we were sitting in the desk next to them. We get to hear his answers that are so detailed that we understand exactly what he is trying to teach us that day. Then they move to Practicum and we feel the trainer’s eyes on us, we feel the embarrassment when we get reprimanded, and the pride when they compliment. Then when they move into the auditorium for the final period of the day, we get the butterflies in our bellies from nervousness, the fear when they make us face something unknown, and the excitement when our fantasies are about to be fulfilled.” – Kayla

When it comes to choosing a fictional hero, what are your three must-haves? How about heroine?Boa treat

For Him: Committed, real (not perfect), confident in himself. Her: Strong, intelligent, willing to meet life’s challenges and her own weaknesses.

If you could pick one weapon for a zombie fight, what would it be?

A sling shot.

Very interesting!

Okay, last question.  What is the most compelling reason you can give someone who has yet to read your work to pick up one of your books?

I write erotica to entice the mind and heart, as well as the loins. My intent is to draw you in so that you experience what the character is experiencing, feel their emotional ups and downs, and want to jump someone’s bones afterwards.

A noble goal! 🙂  Well, with that aim in mind, I leave you all with an excerpt from Brie Learns the Art of Submission!

From Warrior Fantasy (Brie Lives Her Fantasy):

His thrusts were strong and demanding. She had to remind herself to relax in order to take his entirety. She groaned as his speed and depth increased. He grabbed handfuls of her hair, grunting in his own pleasure while his tight pelvic muscles delivered repeated thrusts.

She could feel the burn on her back as they slowly inched across the carpet. It added to the brutish feel of their coupling. She wrapped her legs around his waist and cried out so the whole house could hear. “Rytsar, you’re too big!” she screamed loudly, adding, “But I like it, oh, yes…! You make it hurt so good.” Even though she knew he couldn’t understand, she suspected some of his friends spoke English and it pleased her to promote his manliness to the crowd in the other room.

He grasped her face in his hands and kissed her deeply while he consumed her with his body. The ridge of his shaft rubbed that area deep inside that made her legs quiver uncontrollably. She purred into his mouth as he brought her to the edge, but then he stopped. Rytsar pulled out, chuckling wickedly under his breath.

He turned Brie onto her stomach and grunted out a command she assumed meant ‘stay’. She lay on the carpet, breathless and needy. He came back to her less than a minute later and lay on top of her body with his rigid member between her butt cheeks. He lifted her pelvis up with one hand and pressed his lubricated cock against her ass.

Lisa M. Owens Takes Us Back in Time

Author Lisa Owens is here today!  She’s answering a few of my burning questions, and giving us a glimpse of her time travel romance, If Only. Reviewers are calling her book a “sweetly emotional” read that pulls off “the seemingly impossible.”  I’m excited to check this one out!

1) Do you believe in Happily Ever Afters in real life? Why or why not?

I believe that Happily Ever Afters are possible but I also believe that they are somewhat rare. There is so much temptation that can lead a relationship astray. Nowadays, when people get married, it seems as though most of those people are only committed to those sacred vows until something better comes along.

I suppose in some way, that is why I write what I write. That way, they could stay in love forever.

2) How would you describe your writing style/tone of your stories to someone who hasn’t read you yet?

I write stories about everyday women in emotionally charged situations.

Full of love, red-hot sex and overflowing with emotion.

(How can an author write about love without expressing any emotion? I try to write stories about women that you will cheer for when they’re up and cry along with them with they are down.)

3) Let’s say you were abducted by aliens. Why did they choose you and why did they consequently let you go?

Why would they choose me: Probably because of my wild imagination.

Why would they let me go: Same reason. They would probably get sick and tired of me following them all around the spaceship, carrying my notebook and pencil, asking them all sorts of questions. (How fast does your ship go? What do you eat? How do you mate? What do you need humans for?)

Eventually, they would run away screaming and open the portal door, booting me out on my ass.

4) While you’re writing/planning—music or no music? If music, what kind?

It just kind of varies. Some days, I work better with music. On other days, I work better without.

The type of music I listen to mainly depends on what kind of a scene I am writing. When I am writing a sex scene, for example, I listen to Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. If I am working on an angry scene, like the confrontational scene between Bree and her ex-husband, I listen to more female empowered songs. For example: Pink, Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson.

5) Do you have only one WIP, or do you bounce around between projects?

I like to have a couple of different projects to work on. That way, if I get stuck on one storyline, I can switch to the other. I limit myself to only having two works in progress at a time. That way, I always know my story line and I have a less chance of getting confused that I would if I had four or five projects that I was working on concurrently.

6) Tell us a little about your current WIP.

I am currently working on two manuscripts.

One is the continuation of my If Only series. It is about a woman who married for love instead of for money. Fourteen years later, she wonders how her life would have been different if she had married for money instead.

The other is the story of a Marine who returns home from fighting in Afghanistan to discover that things aren’t the same as they were when he left.

7) Please give us a two-hundred word teaser from your latest release, as well as the tag line for your book.

What would you do if you had the opportunity to go back and relive your greatest mistake?

Five years ago, Bree Sexton walked out on her fiancé and into the arms of a charming and handsome stranger. She has regretted her decision ever since. Instead of a fairy-tale marriage, her “prince” shattered her dreams and her spirit with physical violence and emotional cruelty she barely escaped.

She then mysteriously wakes up in bed with the fiancé she loved and left, the life she’d dreamed of now a reality, until her cruel ex-husband reappears to destroy her new life. But what is real, and what is make-believe? Is she really getting the chance she has always dreamed of? And when it is all said and done, will she finally end up with the man she has always regretted leaving? Or will she wake up to discover herself alone?

8) Do you have any manuscripts collecting cyber dust on your hard drive? What and why?

None collecting dust on my hard drive, but I do have a file cabinet filled with plays and stories from my teenage years. I recently went through them and I found several that although they were written poorly, the storylines were good ideas for teen novels. I am thinking that someday, I might dust them off and try writing a few books for teenagers. Until then, they will stay locked in my file cabinet, away from prying eyes, collecting dust bunnies.

9) What’s the meanest thing you ever did to one of your characters?

The meanest thing I have ever done to one of my characters has to be the trials that I put Bree Sexton through in If Only. Although it is first and foremost a romance novel, it goes into some detail as to the physical and emotional abuse that her ex-husband put her through.

Rhonda Print is Here with a Free Book!

And her newest book, Phoenix is out now!

PHOENIX: A LEAH WOLFE SINS NOVEL  www.LSBooks.com

Blurb: Leah Wolfe of the Supernatural Investigations of Non-human Species—SINS for short—is learning to control her necromancer skills while balancing her life as a federal agent and fiancée to the Marquis of the vampire world, Ian Nightwalker.

When her godson is kidnapped and the kidnapper offers to trade the boy for Leah, she doesn’t hesitate.

Leah finds herself in the lair of Phoenix, a former Marquis bent on avenging the death of his lover. He is also a scientist who is using DNA from various species with the hopes of creating an army of Supernaturals.

Leah must stop Phoenix, save those he has tampered with, and get back to Ian.

But first, she must save herself.

Excerpt:

Shifting, I trailed my mouth down his neck, teasing his chest and then sliding lower, where I confirmed that Ian was, indeed, naked, hard, and eager for me. Ian lowered his lips to mine and our tongues tangled together. Short, slow licks quickly smoldered into white-hot desire as we made love to each other’s bodies with our lips and tongues.

He pushed me away from him and I released him with a reluctant groan until he flipped me on my back and wrapped my legs around his shoulders. With his eyes fixed on mine, he slid his tongue out and gave me one long, torturing lick. I gasped, and he flashed me that crooked smile of his and did it again.

“I love to watch your eyes glaze over in ecstasy while I devour you, my love,” he crooned before tasting me once again.

I fisted my hands into the silky strands of his hair and lost all sense of sanity as he tormented my body with long, slow swirls of his skillful tongue. When I thought I could take no more, he slipped his tongue inside me and suckled on my center until I could only see white bursts of pleasure through my closed eyelids. My head thrashed from side to side. His pace relaxed and the slower he slid in and out of me, the more intense the pleasure became that shuddered through me until my body burst with rapture and insanity all at once. I screamed his name with my release, but Ian kept his mouth in place, drinking down my pleasure—as if it were the blood he existed upon.

Interview with Layne Macadam

Hi Kimber, and thank you so much for interviewing me today on your site.

Thanks so much for coming, Layne!  I love a hot Navy SEAL and can’t wait to read “Desire Unleashed!”  Now, on with the questions!

What authors/books inspired your love for the genre?

I’ve always had a passion for the written word and devoured books from when I was first able to read. The romance books that inspired me initially, I guess were the classics, Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, Sense and Sensibility, Jane Eyre, but as for modern-day authors/books, Shannon McKenna’s Behind Closed Doors immediately springs to mind. Her graphic descriptions and the excitement she created captivated me right from the start, and her eloquent love scenes are some of the best I have read. I still look for her new releases.

Do you believe in Happy Ever After’s in real life?

Absolutely! I believe everyone has a special someone and love is out there. You might have to work hard to find it, and it may take longer to find, but it’s there, you just have to keep looking. Once you’ve found it though hold on to it tight because to go through life with your soul mate is a gift to be cherished.

Which of your books are you most proud of and why?

Definitely Desire Unleashed Book 1 in the Desire Series. It’s my first book so of course it’s special, and being over 100K words it was a mammoth task, so just completing it gave me a sense of achievement. And of course Shane Jackson, the hero is to die for, as are his Navy SEAL buddies! *grins*

What is your writing process like?  Are you a planner?  Pantster?

Oh definitely a pantster. I am striving to be a planner though. Really, it probably makes more sense to have your story plotted out in a sequence of events doesn’t it? I guess that would also eliminate a lot of unnecessary to-ing and fro-ing and going back to add things in. I’ve read quite a bit on plotting lately and am putting it in to practice with my current work Desire Denied using the Five Act paradigm.

What is your favorite writing tool or tip?

That’s easy. After my laptop of course, it’s the cut and paste feature. Being a pantster I’d write a number of chapters and then go back to read and edit them. That’s when I’d discover that a particular scene in chapter X fitted so much better with what was happening in chapter XY. Solution—cut and paste!! Voila all done. I’m in awe of those authors who had to use a typewriter!

I agree. And libraries to do research!  Yikes!

Who are your favorite erotic romance authors right now and why?

Mm, that’s a hard one. There are so many wonderful authors out there it’s difficult to choose. Apart from the few I have named and you Kimber, I also count Annie Solomon as one of my favorites, and I’ve recently read and enjoyed books by several of my fellow LSB authors: Daisy Banks, Rosanna Leo, Christy Gissendaner to name a few. I’m finding new authors with a wealth of talent all the time.

You’re too sweet, Layne!

Please give us a two-hundred word teaser from your latest release, as well as the tag line for your book.

Teaser

Wolf and Havoc watched fascinated from the boat. “He’s got it bad.”

“Yep,” Havoc agreed with a cheesy grin as he jumped over the side and into the water.

Handing the basket of food down to the big fella, Wolf beamed as he thought about the fun to be had at Ice’s expense. “Payback’s gonna be a bitch ain’t it?”

“Got that right.” Havoc chuckled. “And about time too,” he added as he waded toward the sand.

“Hey Havoc,” he called, and was waiting when Havoc spun back toward the boat.

“Say cheese,” he said, snapping the big man’s photo with his digital SLR.

Havoc flipped him the bird. “Get a life will you? I’m sick of that goddamned camera of yours, and while we’re on the subject, if you e-mail one more bloody picture to my mother I’m gonna knock your freaking block off.”

Wolf gave a belly laugh, zoomed in on Kathy and Ice on the beach, and snapped them too. Checking the images in the LCD, he was pretty happy with the results.

Thanks, Layne!  It was such a pleasure having you today!  I can’t wait to see what else you have up  your sleeve and “Desire Unleashed” is going on my TBR pile for sure!
