As is usually the case with Ravenous story collections, there are a mix of any and all sexual pairings in here. The only certainty is that there are three people involved in each scenario. 😉 For my contribution, I have an FFM tale called Carrie and Bridget’s Bucket List.

How about an excerpt?

————

The nightclub was packed.  Sweaty limbs bumped and rubbed against them as they excused their way through the crowd on the main level.

“Let’s get a drink and scope the place out,” Bridget yelled over the music.  They wove toward the bar.  Two mango margaritas later, they were shuffling back through the crowd.

“I don’t see him.”  Carrie knew she sounded disappointed.  She was.  Something about the smooth-talking, skydiving jump instructor had made her melt from the moment he opened his mouth.  Sure, he was gorgeous with his too-long waves of brown hair kissed with sunshine, and those dark chocolate eyes.  His looks were almost boyish.  He had a carefree smile and dimples that took her breath away.  Oh, and she couldn’t forget the muscular body that had been pressed against her during the jump.

But, no, his physical attractiveness wasn’t what made her keep thinking about him all day.  It was—no, not his voice, but his presence.  Something about him made her legs weak, almost as if her body were trying to preserve itself—to stop her from obeying his every command.

Yet that unyielding personality, his remarkable air of authority, had gotten her out of the plane after she had balked.  Bridget, with her jump instructor Maria, was already a crimson ink splotch against the baby blue sky when Carrie had turned to Dario.

“I can’t do this,” she said.

He spoke against her ear to be heard over the plane’s engine and the air roaring past the open door.  His breath was scalding against her neck while his accent rolled over her in a sultry wave of words.  “You need to do this.  Feel that?”  He placed a palm against her stomach, and Carrie sucked in a breath.  “Yes, you are scared, but you are also excited.  You want to experience this rush.  This climax of adrenaline possessing your body.  There is nothing like it.  Let me show you how good it can be.”

And, with his hard chest at her back, she had jumped out of an airplane.

Carrie didn’t know if anything he said was actually sexual in nature.  Did he talk like that to every scared skydiving patron?  Was his meaning kinked in translation?  She only knew her cotton briefs were clinging to her crotch all the way down.  And Dario was right.  It was amazing.  Borderline orgasmic.

Sci Spanks 2014 #scifi #BDSM #stories

I’m stoked to have Leigh Ellwood here today talking about a new sci-fi story collection she’s in (along with a slew of other fabulous authors). Sci Spanks has 15 sexy tales for the awesomely low price of 99 cents. It’s a steal!

————

Hello, everybody. Leigh Ellwood here, and I’m thrilled to announce I’m part of a new anthology called Sci Spanks. This is a collection of 15 shorts on a theme – naturally science fiction with spanking. My contribution, “Skin,” came to me as I racked my brains to think of a story. A martini or two later, and it happened.

You may or may not be familiar with my work, but BDSM and kink are not sub-genres I write often. I don’t read much BDSM, just a few authors, and I know writing kink requires research so the stories are accurate and do not misrepresent the Lifestyle. Since this book deals mainly with spanking, though, I felt it was okay for me to participate. The science fiction setting allowed me a bit of creative license as well. I placed my heroine in a precarious situation where a law was accidentally broken, but her captain manages to make it easier by becoming involved in the interplanetary conflict. I don’t want to spoil it for anybody, but Sci Spanks is only 99 cents and a great collection if you enjoy light kink, other worlds, and a variety of pairings.

I invite you to preview Sci Spanks below and to drop me a line on Twitter @LeighEllwood if you have read and enjoyed it. I don’t know if I’ll write more spanking stories after this, but the feedback is good I never say never.

Jen & Maddy by Cathy Pegau

Tara Lain’s “The Pack or the Panther” Audiobook Blast!

Tara Lain’s The Pack or the Panther is out on audiobook!

Pack-Panther600x600Banner

Author Name: Tara Lain

Cover Artist: Aaron Anderson

Narrator: Max Lehnen

Publisher: Dreamspinner Press

Blurb:

Cole Harker, son of an alpha werewolf, is bigger and more powerful than most wolves, tongue-tied in groups, and gay. For twenty-four years, he’s lived to please his family and pack—even letting them promise him in marriage to female werewolf Analiese to secure a pack alliance and help save them from a powerful gangster who wants their land. Then Cole meets Analiese’s half-brother, panther shifter Paris Marketo, and for the first time, Cole wants something for himself.

When Analiese runs off to marry a human, Cole finally has a chance with Paris, but the solitary cat rejects him, the pack, and everything it represents. Then Cole discovers the gangster wants Paris too and won’t rest until he has him. What started as a land dispute turns into World War Wolf! But the bigger fight is the battle between cats and dogs.

Excerpt:

Cole took hold of a branch a few feet from Paris. “Do you think the alliance will stand?” He shrugged. “Hard to say. I know everyone hopes so, so I hope so too.” Cole pulled his eyebrows together. “But you don’t really care.”

Paris looked up sharply. “Yes, I care. I care about my parents. They’ve been good to me and I owe them a lot. I’m a freak by wolf standards, and my father has never abjured me. I honestly believe he kept me separate for my well-being more than his own. He acknowledges me as his son even though I remind him of his greatest sorrow.”

“Your panther mother.” He nodded. “And Trixie isn’t a brave female. My existence is difficult for her, but she’s been nothing but good to me. She had to stand against the combined disapproval of a lot of other females for me. They didn’t know what I was, but they knew I was Merced’s first wife’s son. They weren’t kind. She was. I value her and want the best.”

Cole nodded. If there was one thing he understood, it was loyalty.

“And then there’s you.”

Cole glanced up. Look at that mischievous face. He’d switched from deeply serious to court jester in one second flat. “What about me?” He grinned.

The cat danced around his tree, unfastening buttons on his shirt with intricate skill. “You want the alliance and I want you. Isn’t that an Aristotelian principle? If A equals B and B equals C, then Paris wants Cole to have his alliance so Paris can have Cole’s big yummy cock in his ass. An ass, I might add, that’s been throbbing like a voodoo drum since I first looked in your silver eyes, wolfman.” He whipped off the shirt, leaving his upper body bare.

Wow. Even knowing what was coming, that sight was hard to believe. The cat’s skin glowed in the moonlight like so much alabaster formed into a work of art. If you liked bulky, you wouldn’t like Paris. But if the look of a black leopard stealing along a branch stilled your heart, this sight would do it for you down to the ground. Not really slim. More like lean, with muscles just where they should be, but as if they were made of silk rather than stone. Fluid.

Paris reached and grabbed a branch, then pulled himself up one-armed until he leaned over the wood on his belly. Flip. He circled and came up to sitting, his upper body glowing and long legs dangling. He spread his arms out for a second as if balancing on a tightrope. Then he reached in and started to unfasten his belt. Slowly, he slipped it from his trousers, then swung it over his head until it caught on an upper branch.

He pulled himself to standing and used one hand to slowly lower his fly. White showed in the gap. Oh my. Not white underwear.  White skin. Cole shuddered. He wasn’t used to this kind of sexy. Hell, who was? This cat was one of a kind.

Emma Weylin’s Before the Dawn #paranormal #romance

Today I have fellow Liquid Silver author Emma Weylin stopping over on her release day!

The second book in Emma’s paranormal Secret Blood series, Before the Dawn, is available at LS Books and should be live on all major e-book retailers shortly.

BeforeTheDawnCover

Blurb:

Samantha Moore doesn’t know she’s a werewolf. For years she believed she was a monster until a hot stranger walks into her father’s bar. With the promise of a better life and freedom from a cage, she decides to trust her animal instincts.

Nicodemus Wolcott works for the shape-shifter Tribunal. When he goes to investigate a report of a distressed shifter, he doesn’t expect to find his mate. He can teach his she wolf how to be a werewolf, but his one chance at love could be lost when nothing turns out as it seemed.

Excerpt:

He let her go several hundred feet before he turned his trotting pace into a sprint. He caught up and hooked an arm around her.

She let out a terrified scream. Her fangs sank into his forearm, and he let her go as a reflex. She stumbled into a tree and then crumpled to the ground in a sobbing fit.

“Please go away. He’ll kill you.”

“Shh,” he said in an even timbre while rubbing his sore arm that would be healed by morning. He should not be rock hard while dealing with his terrified mate, but holy hell, she smelled like nirvana. He battled the instinct to shift into the hulking lycan form. Dealing with a sobbing, frightened woman always caused the urge. It would serve to only scare her more. “I’m here to help you. I won’t let Leon hurt you ever again.”

She stayed knotted up against the side of the tree. “Thanks, but I don’t need help. Please just go.”

“Samantha, I know what you are.”

Her whole body stilled before she unfolded herself and turned. She sat on the loam-covered ground with her knees bent and her clawed hands curled in the dirt. “I’m a monster. Please go before I hurt you. I don’t want to, but it just happens.”

He narrowed his eyes on her. Truth, or a lie fed to her by Leon? He crouched down into a catcher’s stance. “I need more information before I can decide if you’re a monster or not. How many people have you killed?”

Her bottom lip quivered. “Five. And Leon killed two people who found out what I am.”

His jaw went tight. Fuck him. His mate was not rogue. This was un-fucking-believable. “Can you tell me what happened?”

She sniffled. “No. I never remember when the change happens. Leon, my father, cleans it up, and then we move.”

She wasn’t lying. He could smell lies, but he didn’t think she had killed anyone. Cases like this were rare but not unheard of. He pulled at his stubble on his chin. “Do you know what you are?”

“A freak.” She wiped her nose with the back of her hand, smearing dirt across her cheek.

“No.” He stood up and took a step back, well aware how large he was compared to her. The Wolcott family had a Kodiak-bear shifter in their line, making them larger than the average wolf. “You’re beautiful.” He took a step closer to her. When she didn’t move, he closed the distance between them and crouched down next to her. “You’re in danger. It’s normal to do what we call a semi-shift when you’re frightened or angry.”

“N-Normal?” Hope filled her Nordic-blue eyes.

“Want to see mine?”

Her hand fisted, and she scowled at him. “This isn’t funny. I’ve hurt people, and I am a freak.”

“You are a werewolf, just like I am. Just like Ozz and just like Aiden Hyde.” He held her gaze while she processed the information.

Her fangs and claws retracted, and she scooted closer to the tree trunk. “Prove it.”

“As you wish.”

Cover Reveal: Charley Descoteaux’s “Nesting Habits of Strange Birds”

Pre-orders and The Trevor Project by Charley Descoteaux

NestingHabitsofStrangeBirds[The]_FBbanner_DSP

First I’d like to thank Pride Promotions for arranging this tour, Kimber Vale for inviting me to visit her lovely space, and D.W. Skinner and Paul Richmond for my gorgeous cover!

I’ve been writing for a long time, but The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds is the first full-length novel I get to share with the world. During all the years I spent writing, and dreaming of the day when I could say I am a novelist, I also made plans.

I don’t set out to write political or message novels, but after growing up in the Bay Area in the 70s and spending my share of time in the trenches, it’s hard to separate the activist from the author. Like many other writers, I have trunk novels that will probably never see the light of day (you’re welcome ;)). Each of those trunk novels included a plan for giving a portion of any earnings to a relevant charity.

The two main characters in The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds, Phil and Lee, have both been touched by depression and suicide—and since The Trevor Project is one of my favorite national charities, it seemed like a good fit.

I’ll donate $1 for every pre-order of The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds to The Trevor Foundation, in support of their efforts to provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQ youth.

Visit my blog for a running tally of pre-orders. I’ll update the tally every few days, and post the final total on August 11.

Thank you all for helping me raise awareness, and a little cash, for this very worthwhile cause!

Pre-order The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds through Dreamspinner Press.

Blurb:

All he ever wanted was to be a normal guy….

Phil Brask spends his days in the basement of his mentor’s Victorian home, converting legal documents into electronic format. When the pipe feeding the water heater bursts, Lee Redding arrives in the plumber’s truck and draws Phil away from the narrow focus of his computer and camera lens. Lee gives Phil hope for a life beyond the walls he’s constructed using the nesting habits of migratory birds and dense legal files, a guided tour through a world filled with romance and music…maybe even family. But there’s a reason Phil retreated behind those walls, why he panics at a simple touch.

Lee has a good life—working with his uncle and on his mother’s farm, playing bass in a horrible metal band, and hooking up when he pleases—but he’s always suspected something was missing. When he meets the hot photographer with the icy-blue eyes, he knows exactly what that something is. Phil isn’t like other guys, but neither is Lee beneath his carefree exterior. Maybe Lee’s the perfect guy to show Phil that everything doesn’t have to be done the hard way and “home” isn’t a four-letter word.

Excerpt:

“Your pictures, they’re amazing.” Lee said, his voice calm and steady and filled with sincere awe. “What’s this in her beak?”

Lee carefully scrolled forward, and Phil realized Lee had thumbed through all the pictures from that morning and some from last evening as well. He’d been out of it longer than he thought.

“It’s a spiderweb. Hummingbirds use them to build their nests.”

Two sentences. Phil couldn’t remember when he’d last gotten two sentences out just the way he’d intended. He smiled and raised his eyes to Lee’s. They seemed to mirror what he was feeling. Relief; happiness; desire. The next thing he knew, Lee’s lips brushed his lightly. Phil trembled but didn’t pull away.  Pride in his perfect speech along with the giddy feeling inspired by Lee’s smile allowed Phil to give in to desire, just for a moment, to take a chance it would end well. Lee leaned toward him, but not so their shoulders touched, and kissed him just a few seconds longer. He kept his mouth almost completely closed, but Phil tasted a hint of hot chocolate. Or maybe the heat came from Lee.

“Whoa,” Lee sighed as much as said.

Charley Descoteaux has always heard voices. She was relieved to learn they were fictional characters, and started writing when they insisted daydreaming just wasn’t good enough.  In exchange, they let her sleep once in a while. Home is Portland, Oregon, where the weather is like your favorite hard-case writing buddy who won’t let you get away with taking too many days off, and in some places you can be as weird as you are without fear.  As an out and proud bisexual and life-long weird-o, she thinks that last part is pretty cool.

Cover Reveal: Bad Boy #Ménage

Isn’t this delightful! Seems this collection of short stories will be coming out soon–no firm word on release date yet. I have a tale in here called Carrie & Bridget’s Bucket List. In case you’re doing the math, this was my first (written 😉 ) foray into girl on girl action–that’s right, I wrote an FFM (or is that MFF? Maybe FMF?). And I liked it! Anytime I can work a hot, yet dangerous Italian playboy in with my best girlfriends get busy fantasy, I’m a happy gal.

As with all of Ravenous’ anthologies, this contains a mix of pairings, rather like the proverbial box of chocolates.

Go ahead. Take a bite. You may be pleasantly surprised. 🙂

Here’s the Table of Contents:

The Bounty by Nicole Wilder

Two Is Better than One by Mercedes Cruz

Red Hot Revenge by Kaysee Renee Rochibaud

With Open Arms by Monica Corwin

The Hot Summer Flash Blog Hop! #free #stories #flashfiction

Hi, everyone! Today is the House of Manlove Flash Hop! So exciting! A group of authors have each written an original flash piece, 1200 words or less, and are posting them on their individual blogs today. Some may be characters/worlds you are already familiar with from previous works. Some, like mine, may be brand new.

There are two types of stories floating around for this hop: Fourth of July– The Freedom to Marry (established couples) and Midsummer Madness (summer flings). For my 900+ words (I’m tired of recalculating my word count every time I tweak it), I did an established couple, of sorts. Read on to find out what I’m talking about. 🙂

Black Granite Wall

Left. Left. Left, right, left. The cadence was stilted and sluggish, a lifetime away from the march of his youth. It was the subdued shuffle of a sixty-three-year-old man, made all the less brisk by the ancient knee wound that hurt worse on rainy days such as this. Still, cane in hand, Gary listened to the drill sergeant in his head, his destination calling forth memories from decades ago. Basic training. Boots and uniforms. Good times, and then guns. Bruce. Bruce. Bruce.

How they’d played at being men, before the war taught them that being men was an ugly job. It showed them that staying young meant you didn’t have to kill or be killed. You didn’t have to wake to the sound of shells and screams, whether real or only—blessedly—in your dreams.

Bruce.

You didn’t have to die in a tomb-dark jungle lit only by the violent back and forth of F1s and M26s. You didn’t have to take your last breath with swarms of mosquitoes angling for a sip before your blood thickened too much for their greedy tastes, and they flew off to the next course in their ample buffet.

The sole good to come of those two boys playing at men was that they had loved like men.

You go, I go. Gary closed his eyes against the steady mist and remembered touching Bruce’s youth-soft face as he made the promise. And then Bruce had gone for good, and Gary had gone home with a shattered knee.

The wall seemed to go on and on before bending at a right angle. As if the world couldn’t hold all those names in a straight shot. The black slab would fall off the ends of the earth before the last martyr was carved into it. Too many. Far too many.

Oh, the stories those voices would tell. All different, but all with the same tragic ending.

He ran his hands over the names, knowing he could search for many with whom he’d shared canned meals, borrowed time, and kid fears. The ones who had come home to their mamas in a zippered pouch instead of a wheelchair, as he had.

Bruce Klein. Tears filled his eyes and spilled down already damp cheeks, mingling with the rain like long-lost lovers. He traced the name with his finger as he’d traced Bruce’s lips so long ago, and then placed his palm flat against the stone.

Wet and smooth, like Bruce’s helmet had been when Gary found him and lifted it off to cradle his head in his lap. Life had already guttered out—no time for goodbyes and deathbed promises. But his skin was still warm. His eyes still vibrant blue as Gary gently lowered his lids and showered him in grief.

Time heals all wounds, or so the saying goes. Maybe that was true, but the scars never disappeared. They’d been etched in his heart as permanently as the fallen had been inscribed on this wall.

He stood for what seemed like years, leaning on black granite instead of his cane, replaying the flash of too-brief time he’d had with his best friend. His first love.  Finally, he felt as if he could speak.

“Bruce.” It was a whisper nearly lost to the patter of rain, but Gary knew the intended ears could hear him. Somewhere. Somehow. “I came to tell you my news. See, we’re here on vacation. Mostly, so I could come here, but D.C. has a lot to do. Got a nice little suite in a bed and breakfast, and we’re just takin’ it easy for a week. It’s our honeymoon, B.” His voice broke and fresh tears burned, flooded, and dropped.

“Who would have guessed, right? Way back when we were sneaking around? Now guys like us are gettin’ married all over the place. It’s a new world. You would have loved it. You would have loved him.”

Gary tipped his head up and stared into vast gray clouds, letting the heavens cry down on him, feeling washed clean by it all.

“That’s really all I came to say, B. That, and I miss you. I love you. I always will. And Glenn? He’s good with that. I think he loves you in his own way, too. Loves you for the stories I’ve told him.” He patted the stone with a wet slap. “Loves you for making me the man I am.” He swallowed over the lump in his throat. “Loves you just because I do.”

He stepped back and kissed his palm, placed it over Bruce Klein with a sniff and a soggy smile.

“Wherever you are now, buddy, they’re lucky to have you. I was so lucky to have you.”

Gary raised his right hand sharply, index finger barely touching his temple, and elbow at a 45-degree angle. He stood there, back straight and chest puffed out for only a moment before he dropped the salute.

“AMF.” Gary smiled with the derogatory goodbye. Adios, motherfucker. It was slang their unit had used heavily, as normal as a pat on the back and a see ya. Bruce knew. Somewhere, he was nodding, that old childhood scar on his cheek creasing as he grinned down on Gary and then pulled a Lucky Strike from behind his ear and lit it up, squinting as smoke curled toward his eyes.

Gary turned and picked his way back through the rain, gauging each step on the wet stone. The slick grass. Slow and steady as the hands of a clock.

Left. Left. Left, right, left.

AW Absoulutely Erotic Hop: Interview with Ravon Silvius + #Giveaway

Author Ravon Silvius sent me a quick interview for my 2014 Absolute Write Absolutely Erotic Hop stop. Ravon’s a prolific author with an impressive backlist of fantasy and sci-fi MM romance books.

I’m also giving away an e-copy of my novelette Bound by Ink to a random commenter, so be sure and tell Ravon what you think of her interview for a chance to win a short MM fantasy from my backlist. 🙂

1. Which of your main characters is your favorite and why?

I love all my main characters, but I will always have a soft spot for Aldric, the protagonist of Remembrance. The story of a soldier trying to find his place in a world, that the war he fought is destroyed, was really fun to write, and I find myself re-reading that story all the time. His quiet stoicism, too, is very attractive to me and his eventual self-discovery was very powerful.

2. Was there a scene (no spoilers) that you enjoyed writing most?

NobleMagic6x9I like writing dramatic scenes a lot. My favorite scene of all? In the Enforcer’s series, any time Thorn interacts with Lady Victeni, Kenneth’s mother. There is always so much tension in those scenes, especially later on in the series. She doesn’t like him, he doesn’t like her but doesn’t have the power to show it, and Kenneth is in the middle…it’s a great social awkwardness to bring to a story. Plus, its fun to write something in a fantasy story that some can relate to (awkwardness with in-laws).

3. As an erotic author, how much do you enjoy writing sexy scenes?

It depends on the scene, of course, but I always enjoy every scene I write to some extent. My sex scenes have to add something to the story, and I don’t like them to be too long. But sex scenes spice up a book, and they are most fun to write when I’m in adding in a new element to a relationship between two characters. There’s the first time scenes, which are always fun, and then there are sex scenes which precede something dramatic, which are always fraught with emotion. Finally there are the times when characters want to experiment with something new—those are always the best to write.

4. Is it easier to write action, sex, or emotional scenes?

I think the easiest is to write emotional scenes, then sex, then action. Emotional scenes create a lot of tension and momentum, and its easy to be carried from the power of an emotional scene and follow the story from there. With a sex scene, you know the emotion you want to evoke in the reader, and it requires a bit of creativity to pick something fun and unique that will do that. It can’t always be insert slot A into slot B, you know what I mean? So it requires a bit more work. I have less experience with action scenes, but they require a lot of juggling—choreography, keeping the language fresh and riveting, and keeping the emotion in the scene so readers know and care about what happens. It’s a delicate balancing act. All three, though, are rewarding to write in their own way.

5. As a writer, do you prefer the aspects of paranormal, and its freedom to create, or do you prefer keeping it within bounds of the every day lives of contemporary characters?

Definitely paranormal. All of my work, even the relatively less fantasy-ish Freshmen Blues, has elements of fantasy or science fiction. I’ve always been bored by everyday life, and that extends to some degree to writing about the lives of contemporary characters. With fantasy and science fiction, I can introduce elements of my own creation, make entire worlds and their rulesets out of nothing, and explore intense themes that I couldn’t explore to the same extent within the confines of contemporary stories. I use writing as an escape from every day life, and when I escape to other worlds, I really escape to other worlds. 😛

6. Is there a story you want to write but feel the market is too crowded for?

I’ve noticed that many people seem to be quite done with vampires, which is too bad since I have one such book in development. I’m going to release it anyway, of course, but I do wish vampires would come around and be popular again.

7. What will readers most like about your books?

I hope readers will enjoy the worlds I’ve created in my books. I spend a lot of time worldbuilding, and I hope I have the right combination of interesting characters, sexy antics, and interesting fantasy and sci fi worldbuilding to keep readers interested.

8. How do you feel about fetishes?

I have a bit of a cyborg fetish, so I think fetishes are fun. 😛 Seriously though, I think fetishes are a good way to spice up a novel. If people who enjoy that fetish find that it hits their sweet spot and makes the book even more enjoyable, so much the better! Of course, some fetishes are easier to write to than others. If someone can figure out a way to write a 100 page epic about things like feet or ears, let me know.

Thanks so much for interviewing me!

You are so welcome, Ravon! Come back any time!

Blurb: Kenneth and Thorn have put a stop to Alder’s cruel experiments on Talentless, but their work as Enforcers is far from over. In the heart of the magi capital, they find out that Alder is part of a larger organization—and Alder has allies that are quite upset with Enforcers who think they can put a stop to their plans. Kenneth assumes Thorn, a talentless with no magic to defend himself, is the one who is most vulnerable—but when Kenneth is the one put in danger, Thorn will have to find a way to save his lover.

If you’d rather check out sci fi, I have a series of short, erotic stories featuring cyborgs. They start with “Come to Leave.”CoverComeToLeaveSmall
