Ah, romance tropes! Love ’em or hate ’em, they still abound in modern romance releases.
From arranged marriages and secret babies, to friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, and everything in between, tropes are here to stay.
It is so stinkin’ hard to pick a favorite! I love a good (bad) anti-hero. I love a villain turned by love. I love the hooker with a heart of gold. 😉
For this hop, though, I’m going to go with one (or two) I’ve written. My book Star Catcher has an enemies to lovers undertone, as well as a captive falling for her captor. I did twist it up a bit, though, as Stella falls for her alien, Noth, before she is accidentally captured for the Artanian breeding program. And she doesn’t realize he is an enemy until she is head over heals for him.
My MM book Forever is Now has another trope. It’s the ex-lovers reunite after years apart. I’ve got a soft spot for that one as well. 😉 Alex and Chance were lovers in high school. After a catastrophic breakup, they go their separate ways, forging their careers on opposite sides of the country. They never really got over “the one,” though, and when they are reunited as enemies, they can’t help the sparks that still fly between them.
