I Suck at Blogging!

I must think I’m on vacation from blogging, huh?  Lame. Very lame.

Well, I’ll fill you in on the latest and make false promises to blog more often, especially phenomenal content that you won’t want to miss.

My newest news is that my book Forever is Now is due for release from Liquid Silver Books on 9/9/13!  We are rockin’ through edits and I’ve gotten the mockup for the cover art from the awestastic Valerie Tibbs.  It’s an M/M rock star romance. I’m so excited to have it out and read and I’m working on the second in my Shooting Stars series when the procrastination devils aren’t tempting me too badly.

Actually, Gio’s book (called Double Takes at the moment) is about 38 K done, and the light is shining at the end of the tunnel.

Of course, today I started writing on another book I’ve been mulling over for a while now, rather than working on Double Takes. It’s kinda dark sci-fi/futuristic with super hero stuff and it’s going to be tons of fun to write.  And read.  I’m leaning toward making it M/M, but not entirely sure it won’t be M/F. Decisions, decisions. I do so love my boys.

So, here is where I say I’ll be better about blah, blah, blogging.

As soon as I get the go-ahead, I’ll flash you all my … cover. Oh, and the cool trailer I’m working on.

Here’s my blurb in progress for Forever is Now:

If you love someone, set him free. If he steals something of yours, hunt him down and make him sorry.

Alex Bremen is over Chance Ralan. Ever since his high school boyfriend ditched him nine years ago, Alex has barely thought of Chance at all. Sure, Alex attended a concert or two when his ex’s band, Armageddon Showdown, was in the area, but that was more curiosity than anything else. Who wouldn’t want to see firsthand how his once clean-cut boyfriend transformed into a pierced and tattooed heavy metal god?

But when Chance has the nerve to record a love song Alex wrote for him years ago, Alex crosses the country to confront him. Revenge becomes a dish best served sizzling hot. The two men lock horns, but find the chemistry between them has only intensified with time, and occasionally love needs to do some growing up before it can be done right.

Hot Summer Romance Giveaway Hop!

Well, would you look at that?  <——

It’s like the backwards blog!  I don’t even try to make you read my post before you get to the goods!

Actually, I will make you comment.  And I’ll be bikini brief, I promise. All comments for all participating blogs will be shuffled around in a random name picker (not to be confused with a random nose picker). So comment on all the blogs at the top for the best chance to kick ass at winning!

But first, a word from your sponsor.

We have two grand prizes. #1 is a Kindle Fire. #2 is a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate.  Not too shabby. And you can win an e-book from me right here, baby! Fantabulous!

Hold up.  Wait and read what I have to say!  We’re talking words of wisdom passed down from generation to generation, folks. In the spirit of romance and hot summer lovin’, I had an old family proverb pop into mind.  It goes a little something like this:

When the weather’s hot and sticky,

That’s no time to dunk the dicky.

When the frost is on the pumpkin,

That’s the time for dicky dunkin’.

Thanks, Dad and Grandpa! So while it may be wicked-hot and hard to imagine dicky dunkin’ of any variety, fall is coming (and for you G.O.T. fans, winter isn’t far behind). To celebrate, I’m giving away a copy of my latest release, Star Catcher.  I never do this—goes against my personal company policy, so be very excited.  Star Catcher is set in the fall, and despite this heat wave we’re having, I can just imagine a bracing breeze as my heroine, Stella, races through a corn maze to escape otherworldly beasts. And I want to share it with y’all.

So, comment, and I’ll shove your deets into the random name generator thingy, and if everything doesn’t get sucked into a voracious black hole, I’ll pick a winner.  It just may be you. 🙂

*****

Excerpt from Star Catcher:

Another overgrown shape materialized to Stella’s left. It sniffed the air and turned alarmingly in her direction.

It was all the impetus she needed. Stella turned and ran from the hounds of hell.

The stalks beat against her. They stung her bare skin and grasped her hair like bony fingers as she forced her body through the canes. She dug a path through the dry material, raking the plants with her hands to make way for her body, only to be slapped in the face as she split the rows. Stella ran like never before. In high school, she had competed in plenty of races on the track team. The act of pushing her body to the limit was not foreign to her.

This race was far worse, though. The stakes were life or death.

Fire speared through her chest as she sprinted between the scratchy vegetation with nothing more than moonlight to guide her. Rising hysteria made her breathing more labored than running alone. The thing could hear her crashing through the corn and could detect her scent. There was no point in trying to be stealthy. All she could do was move as swiftly as possible.

The pale moonlight grew brighter up ahead, and she forced herself not to slow.

Nearly safe. Get out of this nightmarish maze. Almost there.

Stella broke from the corn. A breath of unbelievable freedom nearly choked her, cool and remarkable, before she slammed into a wall of glass. Her arm had been pumping upward and took the brunt of the blow, but the barrier was completely unexpected. The breath gushed out of her like a released balloon.

She lay stunned in the damp grass, shaking and hyperventilating. The blades rose tall around her, and she was tempted to stay down; to hide. Who could see her here?

But that thing could smell her.

She wasn’t safe until her car door closed, and she was locked inside. Then she could relax. Stella managed to pull up on all fours and crawl over to the invisible wall. She reached a hand into what should have been open air and was met with ice-cold resistance.

What the hell?

It felt like plastic. She noticed a faint give and recoil as she pushed hard against the wall. It was like an invisible force field. Her stomach did a somersault.

Stay calm. If you lose your head, you’re done. Get to the entrance of the maze. Head right, follow the wall. You can get out of this, but you need to move now.

The voice in her head gave the command and she obeyed. Stella sprang up. Fight-or-flight hormones surged through her, and she began to run at top speed along the edge of the field. Her hand trailed along the smooth, cool barrier, waiting for a break in the enclosure. Sooner or later she would find the exit—that, or a dog-monster. Or maybe she’d run straight into the freaky sideshow chicks who had imprisoned them. Whatever happened, she wasn’t going down without a struggle.

If she was bound for Hell tonight, she wouldn’t be the only one.

Scrap Metal Author Jennah Scott

Fellow Liquid Silver author Jennah Scott stopped over for an interview, and to share a bit of her new book, “Scrap Metal,” written with Alexi Raymond.  I love this cover, and sounds like they’ve got a story just as delish to go with it!

1.        So, Jennah, what is your writing process like?  Are you a planner?  Pantster?  What is your favorite writing tool or tip?

I’m a ploster—plantser—whatever you want to call a combination of the two. I usually start with a loose plot that I can follow throughout, but still give the characters room to make their own decisions. My favorite tool would be Scrivener. My favorite tip…never delete anything for good. Put it in another file to be used for later. I don’t know how many times I’ve gone back and retrieved a line here or there for a scene.

2.        How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Hmm depends on the size of the woodchuck’s teeth.  J

3.        Who are your favorite erotic romance authors right now and why?

Jayne Rylon comes to mind first. Her Hot Rods and Powertools series are fantastic. She’s mastered telling a good, well-rounded story that don’t take hours upon hours to read. Also, Cassandra Carr and Avril Ashton—who I just discovered. If you like bad boys, as in really bad boys, you have to check her out. Lorelei James is another of my favorites; she’s an auto-buy no matter what she writes.

4.        Please give us a two-hundred word teaser from your latest release, as well as the tag line for your book.

Tagline: Love is like art; you can take scrap and mold it into something beautiful.

Excerpt:

He was ready to put his plan into place when they walked inside, but she jumped onto the counter and sat with one leg crossed over the other. Her hands propped up behind her, pushing her breasts out to further torment him.

“So about that adventure on the desk.”

This woman knew what she was doing to him. When she hopped on the counter, her eyes lowered a fraction of an inch, a look that screamed, “I’m yours to do with what you want.”

The sound of a truck out front turned both of their heads. Ryke wanted to tell her he could lock the door or hell, forget whoever was out there. He was hard and aching and had a beautiful woman on his countertop.

Angelica hopped from the desk, cupping him in her hand. “Probably not good for business, huh,” she pouted, her hand trailing across his zipper as she started to move behind him. “You have an office back here, right?”

Ryker looked between the door and the woman who turned his world upside down and his dick hard enough to break concrete. She motioned with her thumb behind her. “Come find me when you’re done.”

5.        While you’re writing/planning—music or no music?  If music, what kind?

Music—most of the time. As far as what kind, that depends on the story. When I’m working on a western, then it’s country music. Otherwise, alternative.

6.   Do you find it easier or more enjoyable to write male or female protagonists?  If you have a preference, why?

Male protagonists for sure. They don’t hide what they feel, sometimes to their detriment.

7.     Do you have only one WIP, or do you bounce around between projects?

I tend to bounce around until I get into a groove with one. Then I stick with it until I’m done.

8.   What genre would you write if you didn’t write erotic romance?

Urban Fantasy. I have a wip that’s about halfway through. I’ll finish it one of these days.

Blurb:

Not one to settle down, Angelica Rousseau never thought she’d consider planting roots in the small town of Kimmswick, Missouri. When her art speaks to her—and gives her a reason to get up close and personal with body shop owner, Ryker Talcott—sticking around starts to have appeal.

Ryker has to deal with a lot of personalities and has found that custom orders for women almost never end well. Especially when the women are as picky and confident as Angelica. This time it’s different. He’s never met a woman like her. She rivals his confidence and has the attitude to back it up.

When the past threatens their future, Angelica and Ryker have to decide what’s more importanttheir own promises to themselves, or the love they both feel for each other.
